The genetic diagnostic laboratory at Centre for DNA Fingerprinting & Diagnostics offers comprehensive diagnosis of genetic diseases (cytogenetic, biochemical and molecular). The centre also offers prenatal diagnosis for detection of chromosomal abnormalities, single gene disorders and inborn errors of metabolism. In addition to providing genetic diagnostic services, the laboratory carries out research work on molecular pathophysiology and mapping of genetic disorders. Short term training/observership is provided for interested students/doctors/investigators on a case to case basis.
A Medical Genetics Department has been established at Nizam.s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad as a result of collaboration between CDFD and NIMS, which will provide high value services in diagnosis and counseling for children and families with genetic disorders. The Department provides services in fields of Clinical Genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Biochemical Genetics and Fetal medicine.
Our OPD is on Monday to Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The OPD is situated on Fourth floor of Speciality Block, Nizam.s Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad.
